AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS IS BACK — sneaking down the corridors of Congress, tiptoeing into the Senate chamber, hoping to become law before you and I know it’s even there.
Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) recently warned America that Dick Durbin (D-IL) — one of the Senate’s most left-wing ideologues — and other liberals PLAN TO TACK THE SO-CALLED “DREAM ACT” AS AN AMENDMENT ONTO THE 2008 DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION BILL ANY DAY NOW.
The “Dream Act,” which should really be called “AMNESTY III,” will be voted on this week!
Our elected leaders have continually tried to ram amnesty down the throats of the hard-working, tax-paying American people, and twice we have rammed it right back down their throats.
And apparently they’ve gotten the message. That’s why they’ve given up on plans to pass amnesty for millions of illegal aliens OPENLY and are now trying to do it incrementally and under the cover of darkness!
The American people oppose amnesty. Durbin Democrats know this. So why are our elected officials thumbing their noses at the millions of ordinary people who elected them?
(September 19) Today, the Senate is considering H.R. 1585, the Defense Department authorization bill for fiscal year 2008. At some point during the debate, open-borders senators will attempt to attach three proposals that, when taken together, would grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and dramatically increase the importation of foreign workers at a time 10 million Americans are looking for jobs and can’t find employment.
The floor vote on the amendment containing the DREAM Act amnesty — new number: SA 2919 — may occur as early as tonight. It will take 41 NO votes to kill this amnesty. As of this writing, only 20 Senators have committed to vote NO. Click here for background and details

Talking points from NumbersUSA to help with your emails and phone calls
| Talking point: | Any proposal that rewards illegal aliens with legal status is an amnesty. The DREAM Act is every bit as much an amnesty as the Senate’s “grand bargain” was just a couple of months ago. I’m shocked to find you considering amnesty so shortly after the American people rejected it this summer. | |
| Talking point: | There is no upper age limit for the DREAM Act amnesty. Any illegal alien can walk into a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office and declare that he is eligible. For example, a 45 year old can claim that he illegally entered the United States 30 years ago at the age of 15. There is no requirement that the alien prove that he entered the United States at the claimed time by providing particular documents. The DREAM Act’s Section 4(a) merely requires him to “demonstrate” that he is eligible-which in practice could mean simply making a sworn statement to that effect. Thus, it is an invitation for just about every illegal alien to fraudulently claim the amnesty. | |
| Talking point: | The DREAM Act Offers Citizenship to Illegal Aliens Who Lack Good Moral Character: The DREAM Act does not require that aliens have a history of good moral character; it only requires that they have good moral character from the time that they apply. This means that criminal aliens, terrorists, and other aliens who lack good moral character before they apply get an amnesty for their pre-application period conduct, no matter how bad or extensiv e that conduct. | |
| Talking point: | The DREAM Act is Not Just for Young People: Sponsors insist that the point of the DREAM Act is to provide legal status to “kids” and “young people.” However, the DREAM Act is not directed at minors, as there is no age cap involved. Anyone, regardless of age, who illegally entered the United States before the age of 16 and has illegally remained here for 5 years or more will qualify for lawful permanent residence (and eventual citizenship) if they satisfy the easily-met criteria for DREAM Act amnesty. | |
