The October Century Club event took place at the lovely Spanish Springs home of Estela and Jesse Gutierrez. Guests were warmly welcomed and were offered a variety of fine wines and delicious oer’d'oerves including taquitos, enchiladas, refried frijoles and other tasty delicacies.
The guest speaker for the event was Dr. Eric Herzig, professor of political science at the University of Nevada, Reno. He reminded us about the core issues that all Republicans believe in - a strong national defense, a free market economy low taxes and the smallest size government it takes to get the job done. He said that despite the differing factions within the party we need to continually focus on the commonalities and not on the differences of our beliefs.
His speech was very well received by those present, and we appreciate his taking the time to join us. Also, many thanks again to the Gutierrez’s for opening up their home for this event.
The Century Club of the Washoe County Republican Party was formed as means of raising much needed funds for the local headquarters. Politics begins at the local level and maintaining an office in Washoe County is critical to all Republicans. Members get together twice a year to enjoy wonderful food, great friends and to discuss critical political issues with like-minded individuals in an atmosphere of goodwill and festivity. Meeting each time in a different home, the club members enjoy mixing with local legislators and getting firsthand answers to their questions. This is also a great place for potential candidates to meet fellow Republicans.
